Introduction

For the development of Asiatic, DEKC Maritime was engaged to provide the basic design and production engineering. The project started with a tender design package and continued into the engineering required to further develop the vessel for construction and class approval.

Our scope covers naval design, structural design, CFD and stability calculations. Naval design includes the general arrangement, tank arrangement and compartment plan, supported by the required calculations. CFD is used to assess the hull lines and propulsion performance, while the stability work covers both intact and damage stability. Structural engineering includes construction drawings and FEM calculations for critical structures, including the crane pedestal.

Production engineering translates the approved structural design into practical information for construction. This includes hull workshop drawings, production information for steel parts and shell plate development. By combining the different engineering disciplines within one project, the design can be developed from the initial vessel concept through to production ready information for the shipyard.
