Wagenborg’s EasyMax vessel type offers extremely high intake
of heavy loads and bulk cargo, with a minimal fuel consumption for its class. Open-top capability and two large holds round out this vessel in terms of loading flexibility.

DEKC Maritime was responsible for all structural design and detail engineering of this vessel type. This involved the set-up and class approval of the construction plans and the creation of workshop drawings for the shipyard and production information for the steel supplier. Numerous strength checks were also carried out using FEM calculations.

The second sister ship was the subject of a collaborative study with the shipyard into the added resistance due to wind. Both the wind and underwater resistance of the vessel were evaluated using CFD calculations, also considering coupled effects such as yawing moments and rudder deflection. This resulted in the fitting of several aerodynamic devices to the superstructure to reduce the overall fuel consumption.
